Q.  Are the collars strong enough for regular use or are they only decorative?
A.  Piluzo style collars are very strong and are designed to be worn by your IG during any activity. These are not strictly "decorative" collars.  Your IG will not be able to pull the velcro apart and escape. The closure is on the inside of the collar, keeping the collar securely in place with pressure from the neck.   This prevents the velcro from pulling apart while your dog is wearing it. You must reach into the collar and separate the hook and loop tabs by hand, your dog cannot pull it apart.  We've thoroughly tested the collars on our "biggie iggy" Luca who is 19+" tall and 18 pounds.

Q.  How is a Piluzo collar different?
A. We use an industrial strength velcro closure instead of buckles, snaps or slips.  This gives your italian greyhounds a wide, beautiful collar that fits properly and provides the neck protection  without heavy hardware or a loose collar.  The closure is on the inside of the collar, keeping the collar securely in place with pressure from the neck.

Q.
How do I put Piluzo collars on?
A. Piluzo collars go on easily, but can be confusing the first few times to put it on your dog.  For complete instructions with photos, click here.

Q.  Why should italian greyhounds wear a wide collar?
A.  Italian Greyhounds are the smallest of the sighthounds and, like their larger relatives, their long necks put their exposed tracheas at risk of injury.  For this reason, an Italian should wear a wide collar, like big greys and whippets do.  Thin collars pulled tight can damage an IG's trachea.  Martingales hang too loose when not pulled tight and the collar can get caught, potentially injuring the dog.  Buckle hardware becomes large and bulky on wide collars.  Piluzo collars let your IG have a wide collar without heavy hardware or looseness.
