Patio Cover 2010 - Extention Time
  Back to Fun Stuff List
House Before

The house before - sorry for the ugly combo pic

Laying the footing blocks

Blocks are almost all set.

First section is going up (it attaches to the existing white part).

First section is up - time for section 2

The last 2 sections are up and the main rafters are secured in place.

Leveling the posts

Rafters are up and secured. Time for the cross bracing.

Gracie meeting with Tim to review the progress and give additional instructions on the project.

Cross braces are in and the fish seem happy. Notice there is no convenient place to put a ladder. Shame there are no photos of this part, as it involved quite a bit of creating balancing to put everything in place and screw them down.

The whole line from the old section

Both pieces - really hard to see, but tucked back there.

Ladder to the roof - where I spent quite a bit of time.

The plastic cover is on, but not screwed down yet. It also needs to be trimmed to fit.

Finished cover with the ends still on there.

It hung over quite a bit, but we screwed it down so it wouldn't blow away in the rain storms that kept coming through. You know I cut this off with regular craft scissors?? It took a while to cut all 32', but it worked great.

The fish finally have a warm, safe place to live without roof water landing in their pond. We'll attach shade covers in the summer for them.

Another view of the loooong overhang.

It took a while to get to, but about a week later I got the ends trimmed off.

Here's the ugly end of the patio now - I need to paint the 'white' end and kill off all that nasty mildew. We may not have snow here, but we have more than enough mildew to make up for it.

The finished cover from the back yard.

Back towards the original patio cover.
